Last Day *Insert sad face here*

So this is our last day. Bummer. But it was fun!

We are taking the same route back home (Hong Kong-Vancouver-Calgary) so we won't bore you with the details. Since it is our last day we wanted to do something touristy.

We are going to the Avenue of the Stars. This is Hong Kong's version of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Should be interesting.

It is along the Victoria Harbour waterfront. There are handprints in the pavement, stars on the ground and actual statues of people they have honored. There is also a replica of the 2008 Olympic torch on display here. This is the closest I'll ever get to an Olympic torch so better enjoy it now.

This is our last entry from Hong Kong. :(

Unique hotel in Hong Kong Lan Kwai Fong

The Lan Kwai Fong is the hotel we be staying for one night. We have other hotels we like to check out so one night in this very unique hotel will have to do.

It is unique because the rooms have traditional Chinese decor such as Buddha Statues. They also have Chinese themed furniture in their rooms. We chose this hotel because of it's uniqueness. We have some pictures of the hotel but in order to truly understand it we posted the link.

The hotel has unique harbour view rooms. You can't get this view in Calgary! Our window is huge and during the day you can see Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong's skyline. Just fantastic!

Hong Kong Harbour

We spent our day around Victoria Harbour today, which is located in the South China Sea~

We finally did the Star Ferry today! The Star Ferry is quite possibly one of the better known attractions in Hong Kong. There are roads under the harbour which are quicker but the Star Ferry is a must-see in Hong Kong.

The Star Ferry company started way back in 1888 and they currently operate 4 different routes using 12 different ferries. We rode the World Star boat. We weren't really trying to get anywhere, we just went for the ride. A ticket only costs 3.00HKD or about 0.45CAD. To me, that is cheap entertainment.

Victoria Harbour is famous for its views of the city, and is usually used as the site for firework displays, and we so happened to go during a night that there was fireworks!

Here's a picture the famous scene that people see when they go to the hourbour!

One more fact for you all reading this, an average of 220,000 ships visit the harbour a year.

Hong Kong Island

Today we went to Hong Kong Island, also known as Hong Kong side or Island side.
We had come to the island before, when we went to Ocean Park, but this time we came to see more of the country side.

When we were there we learned a few intersting facts, one of them being that during the First Opium War this island belgoned to Britain, and during that time most of the population was located in little fishing towns.
We went to one of those old fishing towns, and their main source of income still comes from fishing.

Here's a picture of it:

On our way back from the island (by cable car again), we learned that this island is the second largest in the territory, the first being Lantau Island!

After visiting the island all day we came back, tired to the hotel and decided to go out for Dim Sum again~ This is the third time we've had it on our trip.

Kowloon City

Before we created a list of must-see-attractions-and-places in Hong Kong, and Kowloon was one of them~

Kowloon is an urban area in Hong Kong. The city we came to see (Kowloon Walled City) is located inside Kowloon.

Kowloon City was used as a Chinese military fort. It's population increased dramatically when the Japanese occupied Hong Kong during World War II. The 7 acre outpost existed as a lawless world-within-a-world situated inside Hong Kong while under British rule, until it was demolished in 1993.

Here is a picture of what Kowloon City looked like before it was demolished:
